Common questions

What do I need to use Blue Door Stats?

An iPad running iPadOS 17 or later. iCloud is optional; you need it only to sync between iPads.

How much does it cost?

Start with a free 2-week trial. After that it's $14.99 a month or $119.99 a year (US prices; Apple shows your local price), for up to 2 active teams. You won't be charged until the free trial ends.

What needs a subscription?

Starting or reopening a game. Setting up teams and rosters is always free, and you can always view and export every game and stat you've recorded, subscribed or not.

How do I cancel or switch between Monthly and Yearly?

In the app, go to Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription. You can also go to your iPad's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews to avoid the next charge. Billing, renewals, and refunds are handled by Apple.

I got a new iPad (or reinstalled). How do I get my subscription back?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open the app, and go to Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases. Your subscription works on every iPad signed in to that Apple Account, and your teams and games come back through iCloud.

What happens if my subscription ends?

Nothing is deleted. You can still view and export everything, finish a game that's already in progress, and edit past events. Only starting or reopening a game asks you to subscribe again. If a renewal payment fails, Settings → Subscription shows "Payment problem" and Apple keeps your access for a short time while you update your payment info.

How do I use it on two iPads?

Sign in to the same Apple Account on both iPads, turn on iCloud, and install Blue Door Stats on each. Teams, players, opponents, games, and events sync automatically. In the app, Settings → About shows "iCloud Sync: On" when it's working.

How do I share stats with my team?

Go to the Stats tab, pick a game, a date range, or All Games, and tap the share button (the square with an arrow) at the top right. Choose Export PDF Report for the full report with charts, or Export CSV for a spreadsheet. Then email, print, AirDrop, or save it to Files.

I recorded something by mistake. How do I fix it?

Right after recording, tap the red undo arrow at the top right of the Game tab. For anything older, go to the Games tab, tap the game, and tap the event to change or delete it. To change a goal's scorer, assists, or players on the ice, open it and use Goal Credit. To change its strength or redo it from the start, tap Re-enter Goal.

How do I see one player's stats?

In the Stats tab, tap the player's name in Player Stats or Goalie Stats. Their player card shows their numbers, a map of their shots, every goal and assist, their penalties, and a game log for All Games or a date range.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your data stays on your iPad and in your own private iCloud. We can't see it. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I stop syncing with iCloud?

On your iPad, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud and turn off BDS Hockey (the app's name on your iPad). Your data stays on the iPad.

What happens to last season's team?

In the Teams tab, swipe left on the team and tap Archive. Its games and stats stay in the Games and Stats tabs, but it can't be used for new games again. Archiving can't be undone, so you'll be asked twice. Archived teams don't count toward your 2-team limit.
